Derek Carr has established himself as one of the best quarterbacks in the NFL during his first three seasons, and it looks like he is about to be paid like one.

During his first three NFL seasons, Derek Carr has led the Oakland Raiders franchise back from the dead. With his contract set to expire after next season, Carr made it known he would like a new deal but set a deadline of training camp to get it done. Well, it appears the deal is going to get done before camp, and at a reported $25 million per season, he could wind up being the richest player in the NFL.

David Harris has spent his entire 10-year NFL career with the New York Jets, but that is about to change. Harris was released by the Jets this offseason, as they cleared the way to get a top pick in the quarterback-heavy 2018 NFL Draft. The linebacker signed a two-year deal with the rival New England Patriots on Wednesday, and will likely go from a team that may finish with the worst record in the NFL, to a team that may win a second consecutive title.

Staying with the New York Jets, current star defensive lineman Sheldon Richardson does not want to hear any of this “tanking” talk. Richardson told NJ.com that there is no plan to tank the season, even though the Jets need a top pick next year to solidify the quarterback position. New York will likely go into the season with Josh McCown as the starter, with second-round pick Christian Hackenberg also looking to finally get his chance to see what he can do in a regular season game.

Letroy Guion is already suspended for the first four games of the 2017 NFL season after violating the league’s policy on performance-enhancing drugs, but that suspension may be extended a bit longer. Guion was arrested on a DUI charge in Hawaii this week as he continues to struggle with staying out of trouble. The Green Bay Packers signed him to a three-year deal last offseason, and the hope is he can straighten himself out for a team that should challenge to represent the NFC in the Super Bowl this season.

During the 2016 NFL season, wide receiver Jeremy Maclin saw his production cut in half, losing his grip as the top receiving option for the Kansas City Chiefs. The Chiefs released him this offseason via voicemail, and he was quickly signed to a two-year deal by the Baltimore Ravens. The lack of production could have been from a torn groin, as it was reported on Wednesday that he played with one for nearly the entire season.
