Saskatchewan Roughriders vs. Montreal Alouettes live stream: Watch CFL online
By Adam Stocker
The CFL season opens in Montreal with the Alouettes hosting the Saskatchewan Roughriders at Percival Molson Stadium.
After missing the playoffs a season ago, the Montreal Alouettes and Saskatchewan Roughriders made significant changes to their rosters. Darian Durant was the starting quarterback for the Roughriders since 2008 but a trade sent him to Montreal in the off-season. After nine seasons as the starter, Durant will likely be looking for revenge against his former team. Montreal released all-star receiver Duron Carter near the end of last season. Carter eventually signed with the Riders and will look to show his former team they made a mistake.
The Alouettes have had strong defenses over the past few seasons but have struggled to replace former Hall of Fame quarterback Anthony Calvillo. A season ago, Montreal allowed the second fewest points but the offense finished seventh in scoring. After finishing 7-11 the Als traded for Durant hoping that he will solve the revolving door at quarterback. If Durant can stay healthy, Montreal could be a playoff team.
Saskatchewan had an interesting off-season, to say the least. The team rebuild their offensive line, released a player because of domestic violence, were fined for an illegal meeting with Johnny Manziel and signed and released Vince Young. The Riders replaced Durant with former Als and journeyman quarterback Kevin Glenn. Glenn has been a starter who over a decade in the CFL but has played for almost every CFL team. A season ago, Saskatchewan allowed the second most points but the team did not spend much money in the off-season to improve their defense.

Both teams’ head coaches enter the season on the hot seat. A win in the opening game of the season would help take the pressure off of both Chris Jones and Jacques Chapdelaine. The Als are seven-point favorites and should win and cover.
