Two of the most dynamic offenses meet in Week 1 of the CFL season when the BC Lions host the Edmonton Eskimos

A season ago, Edmonton quarterback Mike Reilly led the CFL in passing years. In third place was BC quarterback Jonathan Jennings. In 2017, both are expected to put up big numbers and lots of points with two of the CFL’s most explosive offenses.

The Lions are poised for a big season offensively but defensively the Lions have a few question marks. Former Most Outstanding Defensive player Adam Bighill and sack leader Alex Bazzie left for the NFL. BC traded starting defensive back Mike Edem to Saskatchewan in the off-season. If the Lions can quality replacements for 25 percent of their defense they will be competing for the West Division title.

Reilly and top receiver Adarius Bowman have been the top quarterback and wide receiver combination in the CFL over the past three seasons. Bowman has 4521 yards and 22 touchdowns over the past three years. However, the Edmonton defense ranked fifth in the league and will need to improve if they want to make the playoffs in the West. The Eskimos have a very good defensive line but their linebackers and secondary could struggle this season.
