Despite turning the Kansas City Chiefs into an NFL power, the organization felt they needed to part ways with their general manager this past weekend.

The Kansas City Chiefs should be a team to beat in the AFC during the 2017 NFL season, though the man who put the team together will not be along for the ride. The Chiefs fired general manager John Dorsey this past weekend, at the same time they announced a new five-year extension for head coach Andy Reid. Despite reports that the parting of ways was mutual, sources say that Dorsey was fired, which left most of the Chiefs fan base in shock.

Staying with the AFC West, Derek Carr threw some serious shade at the Seattle Seahawks during his press conference to announce his new deal. Carr told reporters that he does not care how many touchdowns he throws, as long as his team wins. In reference to the Seahawks interception at the one-yard line in Super Bowl XLIX, Carr said he would give the ball to new running back Marshawn Lynch, who should have been the obvious choice to get the ball in that situation during the Super Bowl.

The Miami Dolphins surprised a lot of people when they made the playoffs as a Wildcard team in 2016, reaching the postseason in head coach Adam Gase’s first season. During the regular season, quarterback Ryan Tannehill went down with an injury, and according to Archie Manning, Gase reached out to his son, Peyton to see if he was available. Gase and the younger Manning were together in Denver, where Gase served as offensive coordinator for the Broncos.

In a move most expected to happen, President Donald J. Trump called on Jets owner Woody Johnson to be the United States ambassador to the U.K. If Johnson is in fact nominated, and it passes the Senate, control of the Jets will be turned over to Johnson’s younger brother, Christopher. The potential shift comes with the organization in a state of turmoil, as they pretty much stripped the team of all of its assets this offseason.

Finally, the Denver Broncos quarterback battle is starting to heat up, and it appears Paxton Lynch is starting to gain ground. Trevor Siemian beat out both Lynch, and veteran Mark Sanchez last offseason, playing pretty well during his first season under center. The Broncos spent a 2015 first round pick on Lynch, so there has to be belief that he is going to get every chance to win the starting job this Summer.
