Even in the midst of the NBA silly season, the Hawks’ decision to trade Dwight Howard to the Hornets for a mountain of bad contracts raised eyebrows. The Hornets are coming off of a disappointing year where they missed the playoffs and saw their win total dwindle to 36 after winning 48 games in 2015-16. Looking to Howard as a franchise savior quit being a thing about the same time Walter White quit being a relevant internet topic, but he now carries the hopes of a new city.

However, for a franchise stuck in the middle and with salaries approaching the luxury tax line, could acquiring Howard be just enough to get them back where they want to be? Can Steve Clifford be the “Dwight whisperer?” And if not and things start going sideways, will the plug be pulled on the Kemba Walker era in Buzz City?

To help answer these questions and preview Charlotte’s offseason, Spencer Percy (@QCHSpencer) joins the latest episode of Fastbreak Breakfast. Spencer is the managing editor of the Hornets blog QueenCityHoops.com and is a co-host of Buzz Beat Radio.
