T-6. Tony Stubblefield, Oregon

Tony Stubblefield’s two decades plus of collegiate men’s basketball coaching experience includes the last seven seasons with the Ducks. He was a big part of getting Oregon to the Final Four last season, and his recruiting success was a big part of what made him appealing to the Ducks.

Oregon hired Stubblefield away from Cincinnati, who had lured him away from New Mexico State. During his years with New Mexico State, he was the Aggies’ recruiting coordinator. He signed three recruits ranked in the top 100 of prospects across the nation in that time. That included one McDonald’s All-American.

Stubblefield’s total compensation for last season was an even $400,000, all of which came from his base salary. That figure makes him the second-highest-paid men’s basketball assistant coach in the Pac-12.

Two of the conferences in the Power 5 don’t have coaches in the top 10. No coaches from the Big Ten or Big 12 rank in the top 10. The highest paid men’s basketball assistant coach in the Big Ten, Brandin Knight of Rutgers, made $300,000 last season. That ranks him 23rd.

Kurtis Townsend and Norm Roberts, both of Kansas, are the highest-paid men’s basketball assistant coaches in the Big 12. They each received base salaries of $325,000 last season, good for 21st on the list.

The next coach on this list takes us back into the SEC, and introduces one of the nation’s premiere programs.
