4. Butch Pierre, North Carolina State

Though it appears Pierre may be moving on from North Carolina State to accept a position on Tubby Smith’s staff at Memphis, that doesn’t change the fact that Pierre was the second-highest-paid men’s assistant in the ACC last season.

Despite having a year remaining on his contract with NC State, Pierre is understandably looking for new work as the coach he worked under, Mark Gottfried, was terminated by the Wolfpack. Pierre made $416,000 last season.

What Pierre may earn in a largely-administrative role for the Tigers is uncertain. The last person to occupy the position had a publicized salary of $120,000. For next year, North Carolina State would be on the hook to make up the difference of his current contracted salary, but beyond then, that’s up to Memphis should the two parties finalize the reported transaction.

Pierre’s future earnings are unknown right now, but the final three entries on this list come from programs that are very familiar to college basketball fans. All three come from programs which hail from the state of Kentucky.
