Even though they seemed iffy at best in the first place, John Calipari took to Twitter to completely shut down any rumors of him heading to the Knicks.

After reports surfaced that John Calipari had thrown his name into the conversation to become the New York Knicks’ new president after Phil Jackson was fired earlier in the week, fans went nuts at the possibility of the Kentucky coach heading back to the NBA.

However, the news seemed a bit fishy, as it didn’t seem like an appealing option for Calipari to leave a good gig at Kentucky to head to a Knicks organization currently struggling in this year’s offseason.

Now, we officially know that the rumors were false, as Calipari took to Twitter on Thursday night to confirm that no one had been in touch with the Knicks about him possibly becoming president.

Calipari reiterated that he’s there to stay at Kentucky, and will be sticking around the Wildcats locker room for a while.

Calipari also added some funny context to the whole situation. He was likely sleeping during his current trip to Egypt when the rumors broke, as it was 5 a.m. when he woke up to the “news” that he had thrown his hat into the ring for the position.

Calipari’s Kentucky team this past year put up more wins in 38 games than the Knicks did all season, so it didn’t make much sense for him to want to leave after a pretty dominant run in the NCAA this year.

While Calipari may officially be out of the running, it looks like another name may be getting some consideration, as former Cavaliers general manager David Griffin is reportedly getting looked at for the presidency position.

No matter what, this just proves the fact that not everything you hear on the Internet is true, and don’t trust it until it comes from Coach Cal himself.
