4. Patty Mills

A team can never have enough Australians! The more dudes from Down Under a team has, the more fun it tends to be. Aside from the international locker room chemistry Mills would bring to the table, the 76ers could really use a player with his specific skills. With Simmons and Fultz sets to dominate ball-handling duties for Philly, Mills would make a great complementary piece. He’s excellent playing off of the ball and getting into position to rain deadly 3-pointers.

Mills has some limitations in his offensive game. He does not consistently create opportunities for his teammates via drive-and-kick actions. He’s not much of a driving threat at all actually. In Philly he wouldn’t have to bear that kind of creative burden though. Despite those weaknesses, Mills has a positive effect when he’s on the court. He makes quick decisions, pulling the trigger when open or moving the ball and keeping the offense flowing. Although Mills is small, he’s surprisingly sturdy on defense. He was great at executing San Antonio’s schemes and often held his own when he was seemingly over-matched.

The point guard market is difficult to gauge now that many teams with major playmaking needs acquired point guards in the draft. Mills might be looking for the three-year, $36 million deal that Jeremy Lin signed last summer. Perhaps some team will give that to him, but he might also be available at a slightly lower price.
