OAKLAND, CA – JUNE 12: Andre Iguodala /

2. Andre Iguodala

According to Chris Haynes of ESPN, the 76ers are among the seven teams with strong interest in luring Andre Iguodala away from the Warriors this summer. Fire up the “Coming Home” tributes! At age 33, Iggy played well in the Finals after many feared that some lingering injuries might hinder his play.

Although his shooting stroke abandoned him for most of the playoffs last season, Iggy has been an average 3-point shooter during his time with Golden State. Because of the embarrassment of riches on the Warriors, teams have generally left Iggy open to chuck away from beyond the arc over the past three seasons. If Iguodala were to join Philly, the offense could get gummed up whenever he and Simmons share the floor. With numerous smart passers on the roster though, Philly could make the offense work against most opponents.

Iguodala’s best value comes on defense and in the locker room. He’s lost a step over the past few seasons athletically, but he can still be a lockdown guy that a team throws at their opponent’s best wing player. He would make the 76ers more switchy on defense. Sign me up for a defensive duo of Iggy and Bob Covington on the wing! As a veteran with two championships under his belt, he could help the growth of Philly’s young stars and contribute to the establishment of a winning culture within the organization.

Given the interest he is attracting across the league, Iggy might be able to secure a big contract that would make Golden State think hard about retaining him. Would he turn down $45-$50 million for two years if the 76ers were willing to throw that kind of godfather offer his way?
