After opening the season with a tie, the Ottawa Redblacks and Calgary Stampeders meet in a rematch at McMahon Stadium on Thursday, June 29.

Very little separates the Ottawa Redblacks and Calgary Stampeders. Ottawa defeated Calgary in overtime of last year’s Grey Cup. Last week, the two teams played to a 31-31 tie in Ottawa. The two teams head to Calgary for a rematch of their opening week tie.

Last year, the Stampeders and Redblacks also tied in Ottawa, but when the two teams played in Calgary, the Stampeders won 48-23. While it is unlikely that Calgary wins by 25 points again, they will be very hard to beat at home. Calgary has not lost at McMahon Stadium since Oct. 10, 2015.

Ottawa enters the rematch feeling like they were at the wrong end of a controversial replay. Late in the fourth quarter, Calgary receiver Kamar Jorden appeared to fumble, but video review did not overturn the call. Calgary kept the ball and was able to tie the game and force overtime.

The rematch should be another quarterback duel. Calgary starter Bo-Levi Mitchell and Ottawa starter Trevor Harris both threw for over 300 yards. After failing to recover a sack in the opener, both teams will try to increase the pass rush to disrupt the amount of time both players have in the pocket.
