There’s not much in common between draining jumpers and competitive eating, but here are 10 NBA players who would crush the Nathan’s Hot Dog Eating Contest.

The Nathan’s Hot Dog eating contest is the best annual sports competition. It takes place every July 4 and is the perfect way to start your afternoon. Competitive food eating may sound “gross” or “disgusting” to some of you, but let me tell you, it’s fascinating to watch. It’s also far more challenging than you may think. I once tired my hand at competitive food eating. I entered a Krispy Kreme donut eating contest. It was on a bet and it was free to enter. I ate two donuts in about 20-seconds and quickly tapped out because I wasn’t about to throw up those delicious donuts.

Kobayashi and Joey Chestnut are the hot dog eating kings. Kobayashi put the event on the map with his domination from 2001 to 2006. Chestnut snatched the crown in 2007 and has won nine of the last ten events. Last year, Chestnut set the world record, eating 70 hot dogs and buns in 10 minutes.

NBA players probably wouldn’t do so well in competitive eating. William Perry tried his hand at the event in 2003, but only managed to eat four hot dogs and buns. I told you, it’s a lot harder than you think. NBA players are pretty meticulous as to what they put in their body. They all have dietitians and personal chefs who make sure they are eating healthy and staying in shape. Consuming 50+ hot dogs and buns in 10 minutes is not healthy eating.

But let’s just say that an NBA player wanted to enter the Nathan’s Hot Dog Eating contest. Who would have the best odds at not embarrassing themselves? Here are my ten picks.
