Braves Get
LHP Ian Clarkin
Yankees Get
1B Matt Adams

Why the Braves should do it:  The Braves got Adams earlier in the year from the St. Louis Cardinals when All-Star Freddie Freeman went down with an injury. Adams has done nothing but mash since he became a Brave. However, Freeman should be coming back soon and even though there was talk of possibly moving Freeman to third and keeping Adams at first, a team that’s teetering around .500 and more than likely won’t be making the playoffs, shouldn’t be making that kind of aggressive move. They should cash in Adams for another piece to add and to continue their building process.

When Freeman comes back, let Rio Ruiz continue to get an extended look at third and figure out if he’s the guy moving forward.

Why the Yankees should do it: The Yankees need a first baseman. Greg Bird may not be back this year. Tyler Austin is injured. Chris Carter was a disaster. They’ve been using backup catcher Austin Romine at first base.  Adams is a lefty masher that they can add in their lineup for a team that doesn’t really have a lot of power from the left side of the plate.

In Yankee stadium with the power he possesses, Adams will take advantage of the short porch in right. The Yankees don’t give up any of the top jewels of the system and get themselves a first baseman.
