NBA Free Agency 2017: One signing every team should make
Denver Nuggets: Paul Millsap
As stated when talking about the Hawks, Paul Millsap is going to be playing for a new team come the tip-off of the 2017-18 season. Though he’s 32 years old at this point, he’s going to draw plenty of interest throughout the league and rightfully so. Millsap is one of the premier two-way forwards in the NBA still, even if he’s not particular as spectacular as he is effective. He’s also the type of pseudo-star that could help the Denver Nuggets to take the next step forward.
The Nuggets have a plethora of bodies at power forward, there’s no one that they should consider a reason to not pursue bringing in Millsap. With the pending departure for Danilo Gallinari, the Nuggets could stand to bring in a versatile two-way player at the position that they can look to as a go-to guy and reliable presence in the frontcourt beside Nikola Jokic. Denver has amassed a great array of talent, but they need a few more moves to vault themselves firmly into the playoff conversation.
Millsap would provide them that, without question. He’s help to stabilize the defense as a player that can defend inside and out and would be quite the nice complement offensively to a player like Jokic.
Sure, the Nuggets could stand to add a point guard if they’re ready to get past Emmanuel Mudiay, who’s been quite awful to this point in his young career. However, they have a chance to better other parts of their roster without fully giving up on young pieces with upside. Millsap affords them that opportunity if they can land him.
