NBA rumors: Wizards offer John Wall a four-year contract extension
The Washington Wizards are looking to lock up their main man before he ever hits the open market, offering John Wall a four-year extension.
The Washington Wizards are trying to set up their future in the best way possible. After advancing to the second round of the Eastern Conference playoffs this year, the Wizards want to make a deeper run with their core. Otto Porter Jr. is a restricted free agent, but it looks like by all measures that he will return to the fold. Bradley Beal is locked up for the future, leaving just John Wall.
Wall is set to be a member of the Wizards for at least another two years, but since he made an All-NBA team this year, he’s eligible for the new “supermax” offer. The Wizards are trying to take advantage and have offered Wall a four-year extension, worth up to $170 million, which would bring the yearly average to $42.5 million.
The contract would lock up Wall through the 2022-2023 season and make sure he doesn’t hit free agency. Most people would jump at the chance to make that much money, especially in a winning situation like the Wizards have right now. But the Wizards’ point guard reportedly still isn’t fully convinced and will sit down with his agent and family to talk it out.

The decision should come soon and will not be affected by the team’s decisions on other free agents. Wall wants to make sure that he makes the best choice for himself during the most pivotal part of his career.
My gut feeling says that Wall will be back in the Nation’s capital, suiting up for the Wizards for a long time to come. He was drafted there and it doesn’t seem like he’s going to leave anytime soon. Wall’s been playing better year in and year out and the Wizards will look to take the next step in the Eastern Conference.
