OAKLAND, CA - JUNE 04: David West

David West will reportedly re-sign with the Warriors on a new one-year deal and then end his career with the Warriors at the conclusion of the 2017-18 season.

The 2017-18 season will be David West’s last. The notorious ring chaser will ride out one more year with the reigning champion Warriors. West provided a crucial bench piece to the Warriors championship roster a year ago and will look to repeat in his final NBA season.

TNT’s David Aldridge had the news on West:

West, 36, played last year on the veteran minimum for approximately $1.5 million. The details of the new deal will likely be the same as Golden State looks to fill out its bench in an effort to repeat. West, the former 18th overall pick in 2003 from Xavier, has had a heck of a career. West has suited up for the Hornets, Pacers, Spurs and Warriors during his 14-year career. At 6-foot-9, West’s presence is needed on a Warriors roster that lacks big men.

West averaged 12.6 minutes per game this regular season for the Warriors, providing valuable depth down low. He contributed 4.6 points per game shooting a solid 53.6 percent from the floor. Finishing off his career with the Warriors caps off a wonderful career. David West will now always be remembered as a champion thanks to the efforts of the Warriors. David West is a two-time All-Star during his days with the Hornets as a guy who could score on a consistent basis.

The Warriors will have to now turn their attention to Andre Iguodala and Ian Clark. With Shaun Livingston back in the fold, it’s all about rounding out that bench unit now. In other Warriors news, Steph Curry landed the richest contract in NBA History. It’s safe to say the Warriors aren’t going anywhere and will be favorites heading into next season.
