Dwyane Wade and his lonely banana boat (Video)
By John Buhler
Team Banana Boat, assemble! Actually, no wait. It’s just Dwyane Wade, Gabrielle Union and sad banana boat on this video. Wade wants a new toy though.
To explain to a non-NBA fan what exactly is Team Banana Boat is simply a lost cause. In layman’s terms, one summer Carmelo Anthony, LeBron James, Chris Paul and Dwyane Wade all took part in a famous NBA boating outing. Anthony photographed James, Paul and Wade on back of said banana boat. That was the beginning of Team Banana Boat.
One day, maybe sooner than we think, Team Banana Boat will assemble in a non-Team USA Basketball sort of setting. All four NBA superstars are on the back-end of their prime. James and Paul are on the last years of their contracts. Anthony and Wade could be bought out by the New York Knicks and the Chicago Bulls, respectively.
In the meantime, it’s just Wade and his wife Gabrielle Union and a lonely banana boat in an ocean somewhere. Union shared a video of Wade and the sad, little banana boat for the world to see. All Wade wanted was a yacht. The dude needs a yacht apparently.
Basically, Wade wishes his friends were with him to make Team Banana Boat a reality on 4th of July weekend. Instead, it’s just a sad banana boat hanging out all by its lonesome on the back of Wade and Union’s boat.
Banana boats are designed to bring people together through the wonder of water sports. Traveling at roughly 15 miles an hour being dragged behind a speed boat on a banana-shaped floating device is the best way to bring NBA superstars together.
