You would not believe the cost that Golden State Warriors owners Joe Lacob and Peter Guber are paying to keep their team together
The Golden State Warriors as they are currently constructed are expensive. Like, really expensive.
Just ask Warriors owners Joe Lacob and Peter Guber, two men who will have to pony up a ton of money to keep their championship roster intact.
Thanks to CJ Fogler, who took a screenshot of an ESPN graphic that depicts just how much Golden State’s roster is costing ownership. And it’s jaw-dropping.

Their 2017-18 salary threshold will be at $138.6M. That figure puts Golden State over the Luxury Tax threshold, which will cost $42.8M in tax. Add it all up and the Warriors will cost a whopping $181.4M next season.
Wait, it gets better.
That value will only rise over the next three seasons, culminating in the Warriors forking over $400.6M in salary and luxury taxes. Over four years, the Warriors, as we know them now, will cost over $1.2 billion.
That is an insane amount of money, but you also have to credit the Warrior brass for keeping their promise of paying the cost of keeping this team together. If you’re going to pay over a billion dollars for just 12 players, then you better buy the best, and the Warriors certainly have the best.

In truth, the Warriors are every bit worth the crazy amount of money that the owners will have to pony up in the coming years, and if Golden State is still winning championships, then we won’t look at these numbers as insane, but as a worthy investment.
