The Sacramento Kings have offered restricted free agent Otto Porter a max offer sheet. The Wizards now have to decide if they will match the deal.

The Sacramento Kings are drowning with cap space and threw out a big offer sheet in an attempt to land a big fish. As reported by ESPN, Otto Porter was offered the max by the Kings and now the Wizards are on the clock to decide if they will match the offer sheet. Regardless of what the franchise decides, it will alter the Wizards’ future.

The actual amount for the max offer sheet will approximately be a touch over $106 million, according to Cole Zwicker. The Kings could only offer a four-year deal whereas Porter could have re-signed a max deal in Washington for five years. Haynes also added that Porter still has meetings with other teams and firmly believes the Wizards will match the mega contract.

If Washington does match and re-sign Porter, they will be stuck with the Porter, John Wall, and Bradley Beal trio. If the Wizards don’t match, it may not be conducive to John Wall who already has a contract extension from the team in hand. It’s possible the Wizards reach out to their star point guard before making a call on Porter.

Sacramento has more than $43 million in cap space and could overpay for more free agents if they miss out on Porter. The Kings will wait for their fate on Porter while the Wizards decide. Kentavious Caldwell-Pope could be another Kings’ target on a max deal with the abundant cap space they have. With rookies De’Aaron Fox, Justin Jackson, Frank Mason, and Harry Giles in the fold, the Kings are looking to add more young building blocks.
