Kansas City Royals: Rafael Devers

The Royals are going to stand pat at the deadline or go into a total rebuilding mode. With their record still a notch under .500, going in the direction of a rebuild has to be attractive with three major free agents up at the end of the year. The most logical trade partner for the Royals is the Red Sox.

The Red Sox need a third baseman, and the Royals have one of the best available options on the trade market. Mike Moustakas is exactly what the Red Sox need to fill out their infield. He hits for power and plays great defense at the hot corner — basically everything that Pablo Sandoval is not.

Red Sox GM Dave Dombrowski has never been one to hold onto his prospects at the trade deadline (just ask the Tigers). He has the best third base prospect in the big leagues in Rafael Devers, and will not be afraid to deal him if it brings back Moustakas, a hitter who can push the Red Sox to a World Series.

Devers is a polished hitter at the age of 20 with power to all fields. He will continue adding more muscle and power to his compact frame. Devers’ ability to hit the ball with power from gap-to-gap is very impressive considering his age. He could be the ideal replacement for Moustakas and will be ready to step into the Royals lineup as early as next season.
