Boston Red Sox: Mike Moustakas

The Red Sox will go out and get a third baseman at the trade deadline, and they will have several options. Todd Frazier may be the cheaper rental, and Eduardo Nunez is the steady option who will not hit for power. Mike Moustakas of the Kansas City Royals gives them the best of both worlds. While he will not match Nunez when it comes to hitting for high average, he has more power without batting close to .200 like Frazier.

There is still no guarantee that the Royals will make Moustakas available at the deadline depending on how the next month plays out. If they stay stuck at .500, that should be enough to convince the front office to bite the bullet and sell off to start the rebuilding process.

Moustakas is putting it all together this season after recovering from a freakish knee injury last year. He was an All-Star in 2015 and is set to surpass those numbers in 2017. Moustakas has a chance to set a new career high in home runs before the All-Star break. The 28-year-old has a solid ability to make contact, which would mesh well with the keep-the-line-moving approach of the Red Sox. He does not give away many at-bats and is a solid defender. If Moustakas becomes available by the end of July, expect him to be moved to Boston.
