Before his return on America’s birthday this coming Tuesday, we decided to give John Cena a tribute to his most Tom Brady-esque moments. Here’s Cena’s five most patriotic moments as a member of WWE in his career.

John Cena and the United States of America go together like spaghetti and meatballs, peanut butter and jelly,

Russell Westbrook and Kevin Durant

and drunk people driving to Taco Bell at 2 a.m.

Hell, there was even that one time Cena was in the military. Yeah, you remember how excited you were to watch The Marine. Don’t try to hide it. I was, too. It was one of the most hilarious action films I’ve ever seen, but Cena was protectin’ the country, OK? Honorable discharge be damned. (Related note: Kelly Carlson made this movie better and I don’t want to hear a word that she didn’t.)

Along with the comical explosions he survived along with SNAPPING ROBERT PATRICK’S NECK BY FLINGING HIM IN THE AIR AND THEN YANKING ON A STEEL CHAIN, Cena is known for the pride he takes in being an American citizen.

It’s no secret that Mr. Hustle Loyalty Respect is passionate about the United States of America and with his return to WWE television set for America’s birthday on July 4 for an episode of SmackDown Live, we decided to discuss some of Cena’s more patriotic moments during his time with the company.

So, before you start driving yourself insane over how bad The Marine was and the fact that they’re still freakin’ making those films in a series, here’s five of John Cena’s most patriotic moments during his time in WWE.

No. 5: Cena becoming a mainstay for Tribute to the Troops

Who really loves performing in front of the troops more than John Cena?

Every year, the WWE flies overseas to perform for military members and outside of four shows (one was related to his pectoral injury in 2007) since the show became a thing in 2003, John Cena has wrestled on every show for the troops.

The Tribute to the Troops show late every year for WWE is one of the best things the company does each year and at the end of each show usually brings the leader of the CeNation himself. He’s missed the last two years because of nagging injuries and commitments to Hollywood-related things, but it’s a safe bet that the troops will be seeing Cena once again this year.

Not many, if any, are more passionate about performing in front of a raucous crowd of military members than Cena is. He’s stated numerous times how much the show means to him and what it means for WWE in the past. It’s truly a special thing and puts aside a bunch of other issues in the world just for a bit each winter.
