After tons of confusion throughout the day, Gordon Hayward finally announced his decision to join the Celtics in a Players’ Tribune article.

Gordon Hayward sent fans into a frenzy on the Fourth of July with what started as confirmation that he’d be joining the Boston Celtics next season, and then a little “The Indecision” special throughout the rest of the holiday.

After reports had him confirmed as leaving the Utah Jazz to don the green and white, Hayward’s agent quickly backtracked on the report. Fans thought that maybe he wanted time to confirm the decision himself, and also have time to tell the Jazz himself and thank the organization.

Now, it looks like he needed the extra time to just re-write his Players’ Tribune article, where he announced that he’d be heading to the Celtics this offseason.

“This has been the toughest decision that I’ve ever had to make in my life,” Hayward wrote in the article. “This weekend has probably been the longest weekend of my life. And today … well, today has definitely been one of the craziest days of my life. But I wanted to make sure that I got this right.”

According to Shams Charania, the deal will make him a Celtic for four years for a total of $128 million.

The move comes to the relief of Celtics fans, who had fear set in their heads that maybe Hayward wasn’t happy about the news releasing before he could tell people, and may have wanted to return to Utah because of the leak.

Now, the Celtics have their new star player, and their lineup can now consist of Isaiah Thomas, Avery Bradley, Hayward, Al Horford, and a center to be named later. While it may not be enough to take down the Cleveland Cavaliers in the Eastern Conference, the move will definitely help their cause, and get Hayward into the big spotlight as he transfers from Utah to Boston.
