NBA Free Agency rumors: Kings to sign Zach Randolph to two-year deal
The Sacramento Kings followed up the signing of George Hill, by adding ex-Memphis Grizzlies’ forward, Zach Randolph for two years.
The Sacramento Kings are looking to add around their young core of De’Aaron Fox, Buddy Hield and Willie Cauley-Stein. They had a lot of salary cap space this summer to be able to go out and sign free agents.
Vlade Divac and the Kings’ front office is making moves on the fourth of July, adding veteran point guard George Hill on a three-year, $57 million deal. But wait, the moves didn’t stop there, as the Kings immediately signed Zach Randolph to a two-year, $24 million deal, per ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski.
This reunites Randolph and Kings’ head coach Dave Joerger from their Memphis days. Sacramento also needed some veterans in their front court, as their only power forwards are Skal Labissiere and Willie Cauley-Stein. Both are young players that could use an older, experienced player to show them the ropers.
Sacramento definitely got better today, as they added veteran role players from winning franchises. George Hill and Zach Randolph may not start on the Kings, but they will be consistent contributors.
ESPN’s Chris Haynes also went to add another key component to the Randolph signing. By adding him on a two-year deal, it takes the Kings out of the Otto Porter Jr. chase. The Kings were reportedly chasing the young, restricted free agent from the Washington Wizards.

Per reports, they were going to offer him a max contract, but maybe Sacramento found out that the Wizards would match, so they instead chose to sign the combination of Hill and Randolph.
The Kings will be battling it out for a playoff spot potentially in a loaded Western Conference. The Kings will in the mix with the Timberwolves and the Nuggets for a shot at the No. 8 seed. Let’s see if this young team with some veterans can make it happen.
