Bethanie Mattek-Sands went down with what definitely appeared to be a pretty bad knee injury during her Wimbledon match on Thursday.

Injuries in sports are never easy to watch, especially some of the more devastating ones. Unfortunately on Thursday during the 2017 Wimbledon Tournament, we saw one of those devastating injuries on the court as Bethanie Mattek-Sands was taking on Sorana Cirstea in second round action.

Mattek-Sands was diving for a ball as she was trying to keep her Wimbledon run going, however, as she was trying to make the play on the ball, she suffered a very serious injury to her knee. It was immediately noticeable that the injury was serious, as the American was writhing in pain on the grass and repeatedly screaming for help, as well as using some other expletives that were perfectly acceptable for the situation that she was in.

Just a brutal scene at Wimbledon on Thursday for the doubles Grand Slam Champion. Again, injuries happen all the time in the sporting world, but some just come across as a little more painful than others. Whatever the final diagnosis ends up being for Mattek-Sands, it’s safe to say that it might not be all that promising.

Maybe the worst part of all of it was as the medics were attending to her, she was repeatedly screaming for painkillers. Again, just another part of this situation that shed some light on the severity of the injury, just as much as it did when Cirstea had to walk away when looking at her opponent’s knee.

It might be a long time, but we wish Mattek-Sands as speedy of a recovery as possible as she deals with this horrific injury.
