NBA Rumors: Clippers to sign European star Milos Teodosic

The Los Angeles Clippers are continuing to add around Blake Griffin, now signing star European point guard, Milos Teodosic to a two-year deal.

The Los Angeles Clippers have started to emulate their billionaire owner, Steve Ballmer. After shipping Chris Paul to Houston for a minimal return, the Clippers have re-signed Blake Griffin, added Danilo Gallinari and are now on the verge of another key move.

Many thought Patrick Beverley could be the starting point guard in Los Angeles, but it looks like Doc Rivers had other plans in mind. According to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, the Clippers are signing European star, Milos Teodosic. It’ll be a two-year deal that’s worth $12.3 million.

The second year of the deal is a player option, that Teodosic could exercise to become a free agent next summer.

Like Wojnarowski mentions here, executives and scouts in the NBA have been long waiting the arrival of Teodosic and it’s finally here. He’s wildly regarded as the best playmaking point guard outside of the United States.

This past season with CSKA Moscow, the Serbian star averaged 16.1 points and 6.8 assists per game, while shooting 44 percent from the field and 38 percent from three-point range. 

It’ll be a great fit for the Clippers, who can use a playmaking point guard, because that’s not exactly what Beverley is known for. The former Rocket can turn up the intensity on the defensive end, but won’t be able to score or assist like Teodosic can.

This is an interesting move for Los Angeles, who looked like they were going into full rebuild mode post-Paul. But now, they’ve reloaded in a different way around Blake Griffin and Danilo Gallinari. They’re adding another European stud to the mix, bringing Teodosic to the NBA. The Clippers may not win a lot of games in the loaded Western Conference, but they’ll be newsworthy with all the new names.
