Lonzo Ball made his first appearance for the Los Angeles Lakers in the Summer League. After having an average at best performance, LaVar Ball spoke with the media.
Ever since the Los Angeles Lakers selected homegrown product Lonzo Ball with the No. 2 overall pick in the NBA Draft, fans have been waiting for this moment. It was Ball’s Las Vegas Summer League debut against the Los Angeles Clippers.
Ball didn’t have a particularly great game, scoring only five points and dishing out five assists on a poor shooting night from the field and three-point range. The Lakers lost the game in OT to the Clippers, with Magic Johnson and Rob Pelinka in attendance.
There were a lot of Laker faithful in the crowd, cheering on their team and also watching the debut of their new, shiny draft pick. It wasn’t the best of debuts, but not to worry, it’s only the first game of the Summer League.
Regardless of the game being meaningful or not, LaVar Ball had his share of comments after the game had ended. Here’s what he had to say after the Lakers dropped their Summer League debut.

Here’s what LaVar had to say on Lonzo’s poor showing in his first appearance for the purple and gold:
"They [Lakers] lost by three or four points, and he [Lonzo Ball] played his worst game ever. So if he’s just alright, they win. He won’t be discouraged. There ain’t anywhere to go but up. He took the shots, but they didn’t go in…But it’s better for him to start at the bottom than have all this success and expect it for the whole season. He’s going to grow. He’s going to change the culture. Instead of going to the movies, everyone’s coming to watch the Lakers and the Big Baller Brand."

Ball shows off his usual brash, arrogant style of speaking with the media, while also dropping some truth on his son’s debut. The Lakers dropped the first game in Ball’s career, but don’t worry it’s just Summer League, Laker Nation.
