Wimbledon 2017: Men’s results – Third round

Day 6 at Wimbledon saw the completion of the Round of 32 in the gentlemen’s singles tournament. Let’s take a look and see which men advanced on Saturday.
And then there were 16. The second part of the Round of 32 of the gentlemen’s singles tournament at Wimbledon has been completed. All eight matches scheduled for Saturday, July 8 and one holdover from Friday evening are in the books. Let’s look to see who advance to the quarterfinals on Monday.
It was mostly chalk on Saturday at Wimbledon with all five top-10 players advancing. However, two top-15 players were upset. No. 24 Sam Querrey was able to defeat No. 12 Jo-Wilfried Tsonga in five sets from a holdover on Friday, 6-2, 3-6, 7(7)-6(5), 1-6, 7-5. Unranked Adrian Mannarino knocked off No. 15 Gael Monfils in five sets as well, 7(7)-6(3), 4-6, 5-7, 6-3, 6-2.
No. 2 Novak Djokovic defeated Ernests Gulbis in three sets, 6-4, 6-1, 7(7)-6(2). Roger Federer did the same to Mischa Zverev as the tournament’s No. 3 seed, 7(7)-6(3), 6-4, 6-4. No. 6 Milos Raonic continues to be the next on-the-rise player in the men’s circuit, as he defeated No. 25 Albert Ramos-Vinolas in three sets, 7(7)-6(3), 6-4, 7-5.

As with the women, the men singles’ tournament will take a slight break from action on Sunday, July 9. The Round of 16 will begin on Monday, July 10 with all eight matches on the slate.
