Wimbledon 2017: Women’s results – Third round

The second half of the Round of 32 in the ladies’ singles tournament at Wimbledon is in the books. Let’s take a look at how the women did in Day 6.
After a few days at Wimbledon, there are only 16 women that can take home this Grand Slam this year. The second part of the Round of 32 has been completed at All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club in London.
There will be a day off between the Round of 32 and the quarterfinals (Round of 16) on Sunday, July 9. All eight Round of 16 matches in both the ladies and gentlemen’s tournaments will be on Monday, July 10. Let’s take a look at who advanced in the ladies’ tournament on Saturday, July 8.
All three top-10 seeds on display on Saturday advanced. Top-seeded Angelique Kerber knocked off Shelby Rogers in three sets, 4-6 (7(7)-6(2), 6-4. No. 5 Caroline Wozniacki needed three sets to get by Anett Kontaveit, 3-6, 7(7)-6(3), 6-2. The No. 7 seed Svetlana Kuznetsova had the easiest time of the three, as she cruised past Polona Hercog, 6-4, 6-0.
Two other ranked players advanced in No. 14 Garbine Muguruza and No. 24 Coco Vandeweghe. The only ranked player to fall in the ladies’ singles tournament on Saturday was No. 19 Time Bacsinszky. She lost to unranked Agnieszka Radwanska in three sets, 3-6, 6-4, 6-1.
