Irish newspaper mistakes grime artist Stormzy for Romelu Lukaku
In a case of mistaken identity, an Irish newspaper posted a photo of grime artist Stormzy in an article about new Manchester United signing Romelu Lukaku.
The Irish Herald published a story on the purchase of Romelu Lukaku by Manchester United from Everton. What it didn’t expect was the massive backlash that would follow. In a case of mistaken identity, the paper posted a photo on the story of grime artist Stormzy instead.
Unsurprisingly, this wasn’t taken very well on the internet. The ‘joke’ was also lost on one of the two parties involved, Stormzy.

There was debate on whether this was a genuine mistake by the Irish news outlet, or whether it was a publicity stunt to sell papers. Regardless of the intention, both the general public and Stormzy himself have found this less than funny. The other parties involved, Romelu Lukaku and Manchester United, have obviously steered clear of this incident.
The Herald came out rather quickly to apologize for their error, posting an article to their site and tweeting it to Stormzy as well. The apology post, written up by Herald editor Alan Steenson, stated that the newspaper messed up, saying this in the article:
"Hands up, we got it badly wrong. Earlier, we made an error with a picture of Romelu Lukaku that wasn’t him. It was Stormzy. To be honest, we are totally embarrassed and want to say sorry to all involved and our readers for the error. We will keep our eye on the ball in future."

The picture The Irish Herald used in their article of Stormzy was one in which he wore a Manchester United training top during a music video last year that featured Paul Pogba.
