Honduras face French Guiana at BBVA Compass Stadium on Tuesday, July 11. Here’s all the info you need to watch.
Honduras and French Guiana opened their Gold Cup tournaments with losses. Honduras was defeated 1-0 by Costa Rica. In their Gold Cup debut, French Guiana lost 4-2 against Canada.
Honduras will rely on midfielder Alfredo Mejia to create in the midfield and push forward to generate goals. With the Gold Cup schedule forcing teams to play three games in a week, Honduras will have to make changes to their starting XI. Anthony Lozano could break into the lineup. Lozano has the most international goals of any player on the roster and the Barcelona B player will need to find the back of the net if Honduras are going to advance to the knockout stage.
French Guiana got off to a terrible start against Canada. After 60 minutes, French Guiana was down 3-0 and the game seemed over. However, French Guiana rallied with Roy Contout scoring in the 69th minute and Sloan Privat scoring in the 71st minute. However, Alphonso Davies ended any hope of a French Guiana comeback. The 16-year-old scored his second goal of the game for Canada, giving them a 4-2 win. French Guiana have to get off to a better start if they want to advance to the quarterfinals in their Gold Cup debut.
