Jim McElwain addresses the shark photo at SEC Media Days (Video)

Of course somebody asked Florida Gators head coach Jim McElwain about the shark photo of a doppelgänger at 2017 SEC Media Days. He was NOT happy about it.
We’re about halfway through 2017 SEC Football Media Days at the Wynfrey Hotel down in Hoover, Alabama. On Tuesday, July 11, four SEC teams met with the media: the Florida Gators, the Georgia Bulldogs, the Mississippi State Bulldogs and the Vanderbilt Commodores. With Florida on the slate Tuesday, we knew it was only a matter of time before somebody asked Florida head coach Jim McElwain about the infamous shark photo.
McElwain will usually chuckle at funny comments with his own jovial personality, but he absolutely hated being asked that question at SEC Media Days. A photo had surfaced in the offseason someone who looked like McElwain laying naked next to a dead shark on a boat. While the resemblance was there, it was in fact not McElwain and he was not in the mood to answer that bro question.
McElwain would respond to that question, “[chuckles] You know, I love the humor in it, alright, and yet, you know what it did to actually not only attack the University, but attacked my family when you know it’s not you. You know, I bust chops with the best of them now, and yet when it got personal…”
That death stare was so unbelievably frightening coming from McElwain. Here he is just minding his own business trying to bring Florida football back to national relevancy and this comes up. Sure, McElwain only won the SEC East in his first two years at Gainesville, but then he has to deal with the whole dead shark photo nonsense.

Florida will be in the mix to win the SEC East for a third straight year. The Gators’ biggest threat in the east is none other than their biggest SEC rival in Georgia. Which team comes out on top in Jacksonville might poise the biggest threat to Alabama in Atlanta in December.
