Elite prospects? Check. Tons of cash? Check. Andrew Friedman was tasked with getting the Dodgers back on the right track and cutting down on payroll while continuing to build one of the deepest farm systems in the game, and has done exactly that.

Since leaving Tampa Bay, Friedman has not exactly gone wild making blockbuster trades and signing every top free agent. Even though the Dodgers were winning before the arrival of Friedman, their finances were a ruin and the farm was running dry. With everything cleaned up, now could be the time for the genius GM to make a series of aggressive trades at the deadline and push the Dodgers to the top of the National League and into the World Series for the first time in nearly 30 years.

Friedman has had his chances to make huge deals at the deadline, but has passed. Now seems like the right time for a major deal, and Friedman could look to add another impact bat for the middle of his lineup. Justin Turner is locked in at third base for now, but could play second base in a pinch if the Dodgers trade for Machado. The Orioles Gold Glover could even play shortstop and bump Corey Seager over to third base.

As for the Orioles, they could take their pick on any number of elite prospects from the Dodgers system, including Alex Verdugo, Walker Buehler, Yadier Alvarez or Willie Calhoun. Trading Machado into the National League would also take away some of the sting of losing their best player because the Orioles would not have to face him every year.
