CBS tries to save the world in the Salvation series premiere. Here’s how you can watch Salvation season 1, episode 1 live, on TV and online.

Can a handful of TV veterans save the world? That’s what CBS is hoping with its new drama series Salvation, which stars several familiar faces while being put together by several more.

Season 1, Episode 1 is called “Pilot” and stars Jennifer Finnigan (Tyrant), Ian Anthony Dale (CBS’s Hawaii Five-0, Murder In The First), Santiago Cabrera (Heroes), and Charlie Rowe (Red Band Society) as a group of people who come together to stop an asteroid from colliding with Earth. Naturally, there’s more to it than that.

Salvation is created by Craig Shapiro and Liz Kruger (Necessary Roughness) with Matt Wheeler, produced by Alex Kurtzman and Peter M. Lenkov (CBS’s Hawaii Five-0), and the Salvation series premiere is directed by Juan Carlos Fresnadillo (Falling Water). With all these big names, Salvation season 1 is worth a look for any TV buffs.

But will Salvation catch on with summer audiences? Especially when most of summer TV is about reality shows? We’ll see if audiences bite at some scripted sci-fi.

"When MIT grad student Liam Cole discovers an asteroid is set to collide with Earth in 186 days, he joins forces with tech billionaire Darius Tanz and the U.S. government to try and stop it – and together they stumble onto the greatest conspiracy never told."
