19. Blame It on the Chippewas

This will be the first of two moments from last fall that will definitely be made into college football movies by us if we had the directing chops. It was a strange, early season game between the No. 22 Oklahoma State Cowboys and the unranked Central Michigan Chippewas.

This was a game that Oklahoma State lost in heartbreaking and frustrating fashion. Outside of the national title and the Rose Bowl, this is the one we will remember until the end of time. With a few seconds left on the clock, Oklahoma State quarterback Mason Rudolph would chuck the football out of bounds when the last second expired.

The Cowboys were up 27-24 on the Chippewas and should have won the game right there, but the officiating crew had other ridiculous ideas. Oklahoma State turned the ball over on downs and Central Michigan had one play to get it in the end zone. Just on their own side of the 50-yard line, Central Michigan quarterback Cooper Rush dropped back to pass and heaved it to wideout Jesse Kroll at the Oklahoma State nine-yard line.

Kroll new that he was playing against a pillow fighting Big 12 defense, so he tossed the pigskin back to another Chippewas wideout Corey Willis to extend the play. Willis would find awesome pay dirt by running across the field at Boone Pickens Stadium to win the ball game, 30-27.

It’s definitely the greatest moment in Central Michigan football history and definitely beats out when Knowshon Moreno jumped over that guy. Basically, the Chippewas floated down to Stillwater, rode the Cowboys like a pack of dogs, breaking their Rusty Cage and running out of their with the sweetest of victories. Had Oklahoma State won that game, maybe the Big 12 gets a team into the 2017 College Football Playoff?
