New York Yankees

AL, East

Let’s be real. Trading away a massively important piece to Royals baseball culture to a losing team when Kansas City isn’t out of postseason contention is not going to set well with fans. Sending Moustakas to the New York Yankees would be a total gut-punch for the Royals faithful, but the Yankees could be a team that could send Kansas City a sizable return for Moustakas.

Being that Moustakas is in the final year of his Royals contract on a massive home run surge, he may have priced himself out of Kansas City’s small market payroll. The Royals have lost two key members of their World Series bullpen in Greg Holland to the Colorado Rockies and Wade Davis to the Chicago Cubs in recent years. Moustakas might frankly be the next piece to skip town.

The Yankees are definitely looking to upgrade on the corners of their infield. Chase Headley has seen better days at third base for the Yankees. While Aaron Judge, Gary Sanchez and Clint Frazier show promise of a great tomorrow for the Bronx Bombers, none of them play corner infield spots.

Moustakas doesn’t feel like a Yankee, so this deal may not happen. However, he would certainly tear it up at the plate with that short porch in right field. Moustakas is a sound defensive third baseman, too. He’s the type of player that does the little things right to help his team win big in October. The Yankees would love that and honestly need that.
