Oregon wide receiver Darren Carrington has had a rough few weeks, which ended on Friday with him getting dismissed from the program after his arrest.
It looks like the University of Oregon will be without their leading receiver from last season for the 2017 campaign, as wide receiver Darren Carrington was dismissed from the program on Friday.
The Ducks receiver was arrested just a few weeks ago on July 1 for driving under the influence of intoxicants, after crashing at a McDonalds drive-thru in Eugene, Oregon early one morning.
Carrington was going to enter his senior season for the Ducks this fall, after forgoing the opportunity to enter the NFL Draft this past April. He recorded 43 catches for 606 yards and five touchdowns last year in his junior season, and compiled 112 catches for 1,919 yards and 15 touchdowns in his entire three-year stint with the team.
In a statement reported by The Oregonian’s Andrew Greif, Oregon coach Willie Taggart announced the move, and wished him the best with his future on the field.
“I have visited with Darren Carrington and informed him that he is no longer a member of our program,” Taggart said. “We will always consider Darren a Duck and support him in any way we can. We wish him all the best in his future endeavors.”

Carrington still has the chance to transfer to another program before the season begins, as a player who hasn’t reached graduate status yet and could find a new home without losing his eligibility for the year.
For now, Carrington is without a team to play for during his senior year, and it looks like he may not be able to find a new landing spot for the upcoming season, given his new criminal history and how close we are to the start of the college football season.
