British Open 2017: Notable pairings in first round

The 146th Open Championship will being on Thursday, July 20 at Royal Birkdale. Here are some of the notable first round pairings at the 2017 British Open.

The 2017 British Open will be underway on Thursday, July 20 at Royal Birkdale Golf Course in Southport, England. This will be the 146th playing of the illustrious Open Championship. It should be an exciting time for all golf fans. So let’s take a look at some of the notable pairings from Round 1 set to be played on Thursday.

Keep in mind that England is five hours ahead of East Coast time and eight hours ahead of people living on the West Coast. The first pairing of note features last year’s champion Henrik Stenson, Si-Woo Kim and Jordan Spieth. They will tee off at 4:47 a.m. ET, 9:47 a.m. BT.

If you want to catch 2017 U.S. Open Champion Brooks Koepka’s Round 1 tee time, that will be at 5:09 a.m. ET, 10:09 a.m. BT. He will be paired with Hideki Matsuyama and Tommy Fleetwood. 2017 Masters Champion Sergio Garcia takes to the tee box at 8:04 a.m. ET, 1:04 a.m. ET. That might be manageable for the early risers out East. He’ll be paired with 2015 British Open Champion Zach Johnson and Jason Day.

Rickie Fowler, Adam Scott and Paul Casey will tee off at 8:23 a.m. ET, 1:23 p.m. BT. If you need to see Rory McIlroy or Dustin Johnson’s first round, that begins at 9:48 a.m. ET, 2:48 p.m. BT. Those two will be joined by Charl Schwartzel in Round 1.

Lastly, if Phil Mickelson floats your boat, well, you better be ready for a 10:10 a.m. ET, 3:10 p.m. BT tee time because he’s going with Francesco Molinari and Marc Leishman at that time. Here are all the pairings from Round 1 of the 146th playing of The Open Championship.
