The 2017 British Open will be at the Royal Birkdale Golf Course in England this weekend. How many countries will be represented in the Open Championship?
On Thursday, the 146th playing of The Open Championship will be underway at Royal Birkdale Golf Course in Southport, England. It’ll be in the middle of the night for the folks back in the United States of America, but whatever, it’s the 2017 British Open.
Last year saw the first Scandinavian to win the Claret Jug in the event’s history. Sweden’s Henrik Stenson shot an absurd 20-under at Royal Troon in Scotland to win his first major golf tournament. While we know that the British Open will be well represented by many great countries across our planet, just how many nations will have at least one play playing in England this weekend?
According to TheOpen.com, there will be 28 nations represent at Royal Birkdale Golf Course this weekend. Countries like the United States of America and all four countries of the United Kingdom will definitely have some golfers participating. That being said, let’s not overlook some of the other countries that will have a player there like Denmark, the Netherlands, Paraguay and Thailand.
Somebody is going to win the Claret Jug. He could be from any one of those 28 countries.
