It is being reported that Czech Republic forward Patrik Schick will not be completing his move to Juventus. The promising 21-year-old reportedly has a heart problem that shut down the $35 million transfer from Sampdoria.

Juventus are having a tough summer transfer window, and the news surrounding 21-year-old Patrik Schick isn’t making it any easier. Juventus were reportedly on the verge of signing the Czech Republic-born forward for $35 million, but the transfer has been cancelled due to Schick having heart problems.

This news comes in the same week that Leonardo Bonucci departed the club for Serie A rivals AC Milan. And with other important players leaving, like Dani Alves, Juventus are going to have their work cut out for them to ensure they have a title challenging squad going into next season.

Schick had undergone prior medical tests last month with Juventus, but the heart issues were not reported. However, the most recent medical tests have shown a heart problem, and Juventus have cancelled the transfer effective immediately.

Schick finished 27th in Serie A scoring and tied for second on Sampdoria last season with 11 goals to his name. While he did this in 32 matches, only 14 of them were from a starting spot. Impressive scoring rate for a 21-year-old coming off the bench.

Schick had five of his 11 goals and all three of his assists last season during his 14 starts. He also had six goals in his 18 appearances as a substitute for Sampdoria. This shows his ability to be effective in whatever role he was put in.

Schick was also fifth on the Sampdoria squad for shots per game, coming in at 1.3 per match. The only players he trailed were Ricardo Alvarez (1.6), Bruno Fernandes (1.8), Luis Muriel (2.7) and Fabio Quagliarella (3.0). Even more impressively, the only one who averaged more shots that outscored Schick on the season was Quagliarella, who had 12 goals on the season.
