Kyrie Irving gives thoughts on Cavaliers’ lack of moves this offseason (Video)

The Cavaliers didn’t make the big splash many thought they would with deals this offseason, and Kyrie Irving admitted the team is in a weird spot.

The Cleveland Cavaliers have seemingly been a part of trade rumors for all of the big names on the market this offseason, but nothing has come to fruition yet this summer.

The team was in on a potential trade for Paul George with the Indiana Pacers to load up their lineup for one last run at the Golden State Warriors, and things even escalated to the point where the two sides almost had a done deal. However, the Pacers backed out, the Cavaliers couldn’t pull it off, and they went back to square one.

Now, the team is looking to add Carmelo Anthony to their roster from the New York Knicks, and just when trade talks there were heating up, they stalled once again.

Many in the organization, including LeBron James, have been upset with the lack of moves, and it’s becoming a big topic of conversation in Cleveland this summer. Of course, it found its way to Cavaliers point guard Kyrie Irving at Sports Illustrated’s event on Tuesday night, and he gave his thoughts.

Irving admitted the team is in a difficult spot trying to keep their core together, and was pretty candid on the whole situation regarding the uneventful offseason in Cleveland.

“I understand we’re in a very peculiar place,” Irving said. “We just have to make sure all of our pieces are aligned first, then we go from there. It’s the summer time, a lot of craziness going on in the NBA, so it’s best to just observe and then see what happens.”

Irving added that he knows a bit about the plans the Cavaliers front office has, and it’d be interesting to see what he knows that we don’t.

“Obviously there’s some things that I’m pretty sure our organization wants to do, and we’ll go from there,” Irving said.

Now, we just have to wait to see if anything does actually happen, or if the Cavaliers lose out on their core in the future due to frustration about the lack of moves in the present.
