MLB Trade: Yankees acquire Todd Frazier, David Robertson from White Sox
The Yankees and White Sox have agreed to a deal sending three players to New York
The New York Yankees and Chicago White Sox agreed to a seven-player deal involving Todd Frazier and David Robertson. Robertson and Frazier will be sent to New York, along with reliever Tommy Kahnle. The White Sox will receive reliever Tyler Clippard and three prospects from the Yankees.
New York will send outfield prospects Blake Rutherford and Tito Polo to Chicago. 22-year-old pitcher Ian Clarkin will also be shipped out. Despite hesitation to touch the farm system, the Yankees finally pulled the trigger on a move before the trade deadline.
Sitting just three games back in the AL East, New York has decided to go all out to try and contend this season. Meanwhile, the White Sox find themselves dead last in the AL Central. The Yankees saw an opportunity and seized it with the trade. The White Sox, after shipping Jose Quintana out last week, are looking to rebuild and stockpile their farm system with young talent.
The Yankees needed to address their bullpen struggles and corner infield issues in a trade. In their trade with Chicago, they might’ve done just that. Robertson and Kahnle provide experience and depth in the bullpen, especially over Clippard who has performed sub-par thus far.
Frazier is rumored to be viewed as a first base project in New York. A new-look New York infield will likely feature Frazier at first, a finally healthy Castro at second, Gregorious at short and Ronald Torreyes at third. Good news for Yankees fans, no more enduring Chase Headley night in and night out.

The trade between the Yankees and White Sox works out well for both clubs. The White Sox continue to add young talent to their system and the Yankees become legitimate contenders once again.
