29. Eric Church – Appalachian State Mountaineers

Eric Church is one of the biggest stars in country music, playing to sold-out crowds all over America. During his collegiate years, Church was a marketing major at Appalachian State, and he has been dedicated to the college ever since. Now one of the college’s more famous alums, Church goes above and beyond for the school, and his love for the Mountaineers continues to grow.

Prior to the 2013 college football season, Church put out a hype video to get fans ready for the year. If you ask him what the biggest upset in college football history is, he will quickly tell you that it was his Mountaineers road victory against Michigan in the Big House. The win, which was the first televised game on the Big Ten Network, was made possible by a blocked field goal attempt by the Mountaineers, which set up the game-winning field goal in a 34-32 victory. Michigan was ranked No. 5 at the time, and Appalachian State wasn’t even a FBS school.

In 2016, Church partnered with the university on another venture. Appalachian State University Athletics and Learfield Licensing Partners came up with a deal for an apparel line. The hats and shirts are sold not only at the Mountaineers home games, but also at Eric Church concerts. Just another way that Church is giving back to his alma mater.

Speaking of Mountaineers home games, Church and his family have a suite at Kidd Brewer Stadium. In addition, Church’s son is named Boone, which happens to be the town that Appalachian State University is located in.

So, I guess you could say that Church is quite passionate about his Mountaineers.
