5. Darius Rucker – South Carolina Gamecocks

Most people know him as Hootie from Hootie and the Blowfish. Country music fans know him as one of the biggest stars in the industry nowadays. Darius Rucker has been a fixture in the music world for over 20 years, and during that time, has shown love for his favorite college football program on many occasions.

That program is the South Carolina Gamecocks, whose No. 1 fan just happens to be Rucker. The Charleston, South Carolina native has stayed true to his Gamecocks throughout the years, and even takes them on the road with him. While playing concerts, Rucker will have Gamecocks games on monitors on the stage, and is always donning his South Carolina hats during concerts.

Back in April of this year, Rucker performed for free in front of South Carolina students, and fans inside Colonial Life Arena. The reason for the concert was to reward the football team after a rough season the year before, and celebrating their six wins. A truly outstanding person, Rucker is a big supporter of South Carolina, and even cried when the basketball team advanced to the Final Four this past year.

It has been an incredible run for Rucker, who made a seamless transition through music genres. While his sound in music has changed, his loyalty to the Gamecocks never has, and it is clear that it never will.
