British Open 2017 live stream: Watch Round 1 online
Here’s how you can watch Round 1 of the British Open via live stream.
On Thursday July 20, the 2017 British Open will get underway. It’s one of the most popular PGA golf tournaments of the season. Also known as the Open Championship, 2017 will mark the 10th time it has been played at Royal Birkdale Golf Club in Southport, England. This will be the first year the prize winnings will be awarded in United States dollars. Before 2017, the prize money was in British pounds.
Last year’s champion Henrik Stenson will try to defend his title. But he’ll have to do it against a very deep field of competitors. Jordan Spieth and Rory McIlroy are his likely two strongest opponents. Dustin Johnson could challenge both of them as well.
The Open Championship is one of the major golf tournaments of the PGA golf season. It is also one of the last of the season, with the PGA Championship being the last major before the playoffs. The Open could be a great chance for some fringe players to get a leg up on the competition going into the FedEx Cup Playoffs.
So far, the 2017 PGA season has been exciting. And McIlory hasn’t even won a tournament yet. Expect him to be very motivated to get a win in England, as he needs to get something going before the playoffs begin. The winner of the Open Championship will get $1.845 million, with a tournament total of $10.25 million.

The 2017 Open Championship should be a very exciting one. With a lot at stake, expect a tight field. There’s no overwhelming favorite, but one has to think Spieth has the upper hand. He’s been playing well lately, though he does lack success at the tournament.
