In a recent interview with Complex,16-time world champion John Cena mentioned that his days as a performer in WWE are coming to a close sooner rather than later.

There’s only one man in WWE history that has won as many world titles as John Cena and that man is Ric Flair, the only two-time WWE Hall of Fame inductee in history.

Whether you love him or you loathe him, John Cena is one of the biggest stars in the history of professional wrestling and unfortunately, his time in the ring could be coming to a close soon.

In a recent interview with Complex Sports, Cena spoke about the new Tapout Core Men’s Body Spray and his current in-ring status in WWE. There was a notable line from the interview when Cena was asked about his “part-time” status in recent months.

When asked about being a “free agent” in WWE and not being on just RAW or SmackDown Live, Cena went into detail about it, mentioning that his busy schedule out of the ring makes things hard for him to be put on just one show like the rest of the WWE main roster currently is.

"Q: Can you talk about the idea of you being a “free agent” in the WWE?Cena: The reason that I wanted to be a free agent and the reason they kind of granted my request is because I don’t know if I’ll be available for Smackdown specific only or Raw specific only, and I also know that my days are numbered. I just turned 40 in April and we have so many young and talented performers, I don’t know how many years I have left. So in the time I have left, I’m gonna do what I can to dedicate to this company I just want to be able to do it the most time that I possibly can."

Obviously, the notable thing here is Cena saying that his “days are numbered” in terms of him being a performer under the WWE roof. Cena’s been with WWE since 2002 and over the last 15 years, he’s won 16 world titles, two Royal Rumble matches and has headlined nine WrestleMania pay-per-views. He’s one of the greatest to ever perform in WWE and for him to also realize that his days are almost over is surreal.
