Jacksonville Jaguars defensive tackle Malik Jackson believes he will win a Super Bowl ring this year.

During a recent interview on Bleacher Report’s “Simms & Lefkoe Podcast” and reported by ESPN News Services,  star defensive lineman Malik Jackson made a bold prediction for the upcoming 2017 NFL season: the Jacksonville Jaguars are going to win the Super Bowl.

That’s right, you heard it here first folks.

Jackson went on to explain his reasoning:

"“The Panthers did it. If the Panthers can do it after the season they had — but we’re going to win the Super Bowl,” he said. “If they can do it, why can’t we?”"

We hear you Malik, there’s some truth to that statement. Every year is a new one in the NFL, and there’s not much stock to be placed in the performance of a team from the prior season. That said, the 2015 Panthers and the 2017 Jaguars are an apples to oranges comparison. The Panthers had a championship-caliber roster, and they had a few guys become stars at the right time. Namely Luke Keuchly and Josh Norman. Their offense was tailored to Cam Newton’s strengths and they rode the strong defense all year.

The Jaguars still have a few too many holes on their roster. Despite a few high-profile free agent signings this offseason, including A.J. Bouye, Calais Campbell and Barry Church, the Jaguars are far from being a serious contender. Inconsistent quarterbacks and lacking star power at receiver have plagued the Jags in recent seasons and I don’t see the trend shaking this Fall.

Malik goes on to boast of the Jags chances even further:

"“After the Super Bowl, I said, ‘Man we’re going 16-0, we’re going all the way,'” he said. “That’s what I believe. Until we lose, that’s when I’ll believe differently.”"

We hate to break it to you Malik, but you may need to start believing it after your first regular season game in Houston.
