Jordan Spieth has won the 2017 British Open. Let’s see by how much he beat the top of the leaderboard to win his first Claret Jug at The Open Championship.

It was a glorious tournament for American golf prodigy Jordan Spieth. He sat atop the leaderboard after Round 1 on Thursday of the 2017 British Open and never looked back. Spieth never lost the lead at the end of any of the four rounds. This is his third career major victory and the first time he has hoisted the iconic Claret Jug.

Spieth entered Sunday up three strokes on Matt Kuchar at a cool -11 through 54 holes. While Spieth stumbled on the front nine, he rebounded marvelously when it mattered. After bogeying three of the first four holes, Spieth was on the cusp of blowing his Round 4 lead with a terrible tee shot on No. 13. Somehow he recovered to only bogey that hole.

After that bit of trouble on No. 13, Spieth would go on a tear down the stretch. He would either birdie or eagle four of the final five holes. Spieth would be two strokes ahead of Kuchar before the 18th tee. Kuchar would bogey No. 18 to finish at an incredible -9 on the tournament. The only problem was that Spieth was three strokes better at -12.

Here is what the top part of the leaderboard at Royal Birkdale looks like after the 2017 Open Championship has reached completion.

Congratulations, Spieth! This was a tournament he dominated from the start and everybody in attendance knew it. For Kuchar, so close, buddy. Perhaps both golfers can turn this great weekend overseas into a fine showing in the PGA Championship in a couple of weeks.
