CLEVELAND, OH - OCTOBER 25: Kyrie Irving

NBA Commissioner Adam Silver said on Monday that he feels bad about what’s going on with the Cleveland Cavaliers.

Sure, they might be the three-time defending Eastern Conference Champions, winning the NBA title in 2016, but things are not going well for the Cleveland Cavaliers as of late. This past Friday, things took quite the turn for the franchise when it was revealed Kyrie Irving met with team management and requested a trade, reportedly because he just flat out doesn’t want to play with LeBron James anymore.

The drama in Cleveland with the Cavaliers has even left many feeling sorry for them as they seemingly watch the demise of a great team right in front of their very eyes. As a matter of fact, many people within the NBA feel sorry for what’s going down in “The Land,” and that apparently includes commissioner Adam Silver.

While speaking on the Rich Eisen Show Monday, Silver talked a little bit about the saga with the Cavaliers, revealing that he does indeed feel for everyone there.

“I love the interest. I’m not ecstatic about the drama,” Silver explained. “I mean, I feel bad for whatever’s going on in Cleveland. I have no first-hand information, but I assume where there’s smoke there’s fire. And Brian Windhorst has sort of been cataloging LeBron (James’) career for a long time and he usually has very accurate insights from that team.”

When the man who runs the entire league says he feels sorry for you, then you know that things are spiraling out of control.

In addition to the report that Irving doesn’t want to be the Robin to LeBron’s Batman any longer, it was reported on Monday that the All-Star point guard was a little upset that he was included in trade talks by the team for either Paul George or Jimmy Butler.

Things are a mess in Cleveland right now for the Cavs, but at least it’s slightly reassuring that prominent people in the game are showing some sympathy.
