The Cleveland Cavaliers have signed former MVP Derrick Rose to a one-year deal, and their superstar LeBron James reacted to the signing on Twitter.

The first thing that I thought of when it was reported that the Cleveland Cavaliers would sign Derrick Rose was: how is LeBron James going to react to this signing?

Most fans remember how James and Rose went at each other in the Eastern Conference Playoffs in 2011 after Rose won the MVP award over James. Their careers took two different paths since that moment.

Rose battled injury after injury and eventually found himself a member of the New York Knicks, while LeBron won three championships.

Now that they’re teaming up in 2017, LeBron quickly reacted to the signing of Rose on Twitter.

Obviously, it’s a short tweet but there could definitely be a lot of meaning behind it. LeBron didn’t welcome Jose Calderon, Jeff Green or Cedi Osman — the other free-agent additions — yet he chose to welcome Rose.

Many speculated that Rose would be taking the starting job if Kyrie Irving is on his way out. The news of a meeting with Rose only came after the fact that Irving requested for a trade.

Could this be a shot at Irving, effectively saying, “We don’t need ya?” Very well could be, as LeBron has been known to be passive-aggressive in the past and it wouldn’t surprise me if he was doing something similar here.

With the tweet, he shot down any rumor that he and Rose would have issues in the locker room, stemming from 2011, while at the same time being petty and taking a shot at Irving.

Everything James does is very calculated and with a goal in mind. My guess is that this tweet simply means that we’ll be in the Finals with or without you, Kyrie. Let’s see how this off-court love translates to on-court chemistry for the King and his Rose.
